Thomas van Luyn werd tijdens zijn studio Sinologie door medestudent Mike Bodde gevraagd om cabaret te maken. Het tweetal werd in korte tijd succesvol met hun programma absurde sketches en liedjes. Als Ajuinen en Look wonnen ze in 1991 het Groningse Studentencabaretfestival en in 1992 het Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival met hun voorstelling De fiets van Marleen.
Na een kort samenwerkingsverband gingen Bodde en Van Luyn ieder hun eigen weg. Thomas ging solo en presenteerde zijn eerste soloprogramma Fanfare. Later volgde heelal (1999). In 2000 maakt hij zijn musicaldebuut in de Little Shop of Horrors, waar hij schitterde naast Bill van Dijk en Joke de Kruijff.
Samen met Sanne Wallis de Vries presenteerde Thomas van Luyn een seizoen lang het VPRO programma Waskracht! Op dit moment trekt Thomas door het land met zijn programma Kijk Mij en zit hij in het cabaretteam van het VARA-programma Kopspijkers.
